SecondShaadi October 23, 2007

Posted by Pallav Sharda in : Matrimony , trackback

Another matrimonial site claiming the “Number 1.” crown in an immodest way. This one may actually be right about it, though. SecondShaadi is a matrimonial portal for people trying their luck for the second time. Since I’ve not yet found another company advertising in this niche, I think the tagline “No. 1 Re-Marriage site for Indians” can be sustained.  (Clap Clap Clap)

SecondShaadi was started by Vivek Pahwa and Ankur Warikoo, graduates from the Indian School of Business. The design is above-average for an Indian site- they had my vote as soon as I saw a ‘How it works’ link on the homepage. Basic membership is free, as usual, and they charge premium membership for sending private messages and offer one-on-one counseling. Heck, with divorce rate rising consistently just like inflation, these guys may actually have a shot at a sustainable business model.

I actually registered as a member 7 days back hoping to get a good user experience. I found that there are loads of problems
1) The server itself is quite slow and while browsing I keep getting MySQL database error which means the database server werent responding

2) The system does not recognise me as a premium member so many times and I also get auto email asking me to upgrade to a premium membership.

3) There are loads of unverified and false looking profiles. Lot of spam

4) When I initiate chat, the other use has to accept it for a dialogue. There is no system of varification if the other user has accpeted or rejected the chat. I just have to keep waiting if somebody will respond.

5) The site works extremely slow.

6) Online support is more then useless
