99acres January 13, 2007
Posted by Pallav Sharda in : Real Estate , trackbackIndian real-estate websites probably deserve to be a sub-section in my categories. I have been following enterants in this area, and 99acres is one of the big players. It was founded in August 2005 by Info Edge (India) Pvt. Ltd. Interestingly enough, Info Edge are the folks behind couple other major sites- naukri .com and jeevansaathi.com.
Any real-estate website is just as good as the content within it. None of the players can boast even a moderately useful listing content right now, but they are growing fast.
I cant give any positive feedback for a website’s user-interface if it has flashing icons left and right. 99acres has that problem. Web designers, if you are reading this, THAT IS NOT A GOOD DESIGN. Please stop flashing things on the homepage, it is very annoying.

Technology is becoming an important facet of our lives, and its inevtable that we will see technology being used in creative ways to solve our real estate needs as well.
As an NRI i need help with finding the right property and then i want to have a hassel free buying experience
I was impressed with the team behind atOneplace.com. They helped me find a good investment property and then took care of all the paper work and formalities involved in the buying process. It was great to be able to buy a property in India while being in India without having my folks run around and without having to share my financials with my folks!
Have a good day
Great work done by 99acres, really easy to search for a property.
Thanks for the comments. I will check out atoneplace.com, bharathrentals.com and post about them soon. If you’ve had experience using any of these (or other) real-estate sites, feel free to share.
as an NRI, I have been looking forward to find someone who I can locally meet and buy property from. What 99acres offers is not what I need as an NRI. On top of that the look is too busy. I had a very hard time finding any potential properties that I can buy. I’ll check out atoneplace as well. If hey have a local presence in US, I’ll give them a try. Because real estate is not about the best web design, its more about providing the right valuable information and the trust locally. Thanks
Dear Mahavir,
Thanks for the comment. I agree with you - I’d also like to meet someone in-person and execute the propoerty transaction. In fact, I’ve been (hopelessly) trying to buy a delhi property myself- as an NRI I’ve found too much noise and false promises. I’ve given up on finding a potential buy online for indian market; the workflow for protery search and transaction in india is not ready for an IT overhaul yet.
You bring up a good point - sites like 99acres are not geared towards NRIs (although we tend to associate them with NRI’s becuase of the high technology factor).
If you find a company that has local US presence that compliments a good website, let me know and I’ll post about it. I’m sure there are other people looking for similar info.
Truely great ideas for real estate web designing!
99acres is the clone of naukri….no changes in the layout….
RealAcres.com seems having a good layout with easy navigation. Claims to be a web 2.0 real estate portal.
