, but the pricing is modest: I tried the news channel (AajTak was $5/month) and cricket (~$19/month) for couple of months while my parents were visiting in mid-2006. For the short duration of my subscription, I was only moderately satisfied with their reliability (the site was down sometimes, and the stream used to freeze up frequently).
Picture was decent quality when hooked up to my 32″ LCD (same way like i did BWplanet). Useful if you don’t want to miss the occasional good stuff on Indian cable network (i.e. cricket
). Beware of zero customer support though- I know of more than one person who wanted to opt out after paying but could not because of server outages. Streambox.tv has recently had very frequent and long outages; I won’t recommend them anymore.

Update: After an avalanche of angry, confused comments to this post, I’ve come to the conclusion that Streambox.TV is definitely not worth paying for. The customer support is zero, which has resulted in lot of users being concerned about recurrent credit card charges (If you do sign up, don’t select the auto-charge-my-credit-card-monthly option). Thanks to reader suggestions, there are plenty of other FREE sites that could be a better substitute- check out the comments below, or the ‘Entertainment’ category to the left.
Some overall notes:
- Don’t think that this forum is official Streambox.TV customer support. Here you can only get informal, friendly support from other Streambox users like you.
- eIndia can’t help with Streambox.TV site being down or credit card acceptance and renewal problems
- Best way to cancel your auto-renew subscription is to call your credit card company and block recurring charges from Streambox.TV

The site seems to be down since past 3 days. No update from Streambox as yet as to when it would be resolved. I see this is Streambox.tv is one such business which does not have a phone number to call… I am sure they will get too many calls if they have one.

Allright guys, let me clarify couple of things here:
1. I don’t have any control over streambox.tv, in case you are wondering. I only wrote my opinion about it.
2. What I “fixed” was the link to the site in my post
3. Seems like the streambox.tv site has been down for a while. I *did* mention in the original post that the site is buggy. I’m not surprised that it’s not functioning unreliably, it happened once or twice everyday when I was using it in mid-2006.
I wonder if Streambox.tv has reached the sudden-death stage of web 2.0 startups. Like Vijay wrote in his comment, they don’t have any customer service contact at this time.
I was a good business idea- too bad at Streambox.tv couldn’t gather the reputation of a reliable site.

They have stopped streaming beacause of these continuos outages…Whenever you subscribe you have to cancell it immediately.When they do not respond we have to cancell and renew at the time required manually…why do you want them to charge automatically when they cant disclose their ID.
Their support is from tamilgrounds…they seem to have updated even yesterday So the admin is still surviving deliberately they are not responding to our mails.
So they should have closed down.They cant stream like this They cant afford.

Streambox sucks !! we pay as much as dish tv channel and yet this is the support !! we tried sending emails and the worst part is mails bounce back to us. this is horriable. I am going to dispute againt the payment and block the payment.

You can call your bank’s credit card department and inform them not to approve any transaction through streambox.
It’s scary when you dont have any one to help, when there is a problem. Hopefully they realize and get the site back in action

The site should be updated to a level that everybody enjoys for what they pay for,rather than being offline or not giving good transmission. I was very happy when this site was known but not able to contact,if any trouble shoots up. Hope to have a better service in the future.

Stay out of it guys. I think it was a scam they ran I guess. Better to dispute the charges and change the Credit Card number.. My parents came to USA recently and were getting bored. Should have given virtual CC number instead. Alternate is use slingbox.

Please dont subscribe to streambox.tv. This is the first time i have subscribed (set max) and in less than a month i have written to them 6 times already, sometimes they dont even reply, there is no other way to get in touch with them. I couldnt view the stream for at least 2 weeks in less than a month, now they have given 10 days grace, but its still the same scene. This a money making tactic.
Even if you write to them, they dont address your issue properly. Please dont subscribe to this at all, you will be wasting your time, and money on it.
There is no reason to give money to any website other then official partner of TV channels. Only http://www.willow.tv is official website for showing cricket, this i confirmed from BBCI. For other channels use free websites. I can give few example and if anyone find something more kindly share with all.
For Cricket use Sopcast player or TVU Player both are p2p software and all cricket match can be seen freely. Search on google and anyone can find them for download.
For Indian TV channels use these sites all are free.

I subscribed Gemini.tv for 4 days back, first day the site was down, after that not plying picture, then there is good reception for 2 days then we are receiving some error sal@some ip (password:YES), we already sent email to support@stream… but no response till now. It was not too bad, after all - for those who can not have sattelite dish (in an apartment for example..), streambox.tv was a blessing!

hello streambox is a total ripoff site, cheating people with a worse customer service. from last month iam watching sun tv and k tv in isaitamil.net for free, those guyz do a excellent job, anny problems they solve it quick though their service is free unlike the streambox guyz who never reply. it seams now those isaitamil.net guyz hv started gemini tv stream as well. instead of spending money on useless websites like streambox u all can watch the stream here free.
I was a streambox user for one year or so. I requested to cancel my subscription of Streambox.tv. I couldnt call them since they dont have a phone number. In the credti card statement, I could find only the fax number. Then I sent out an email to
Support@streambox.tv requesting them to cancel my subscription.
They never responded to my email and they quietly kept on charging my credit card. Still they are doing the same and then I called my bankers to block these idiots. SO MY SINCERE ADVICE IS NOT TO GO WITH THIS STREAMBOX.TV.

I have been using streambox since the last 5 years, I never found any problem in it. What is all this bad publicity to Streambox for?The picture and sound quality is great and their recpetion is good all the time. I never faced any of the problems told by other people in this forum.

I agree with u guys that streambox is not worth, the customer support is too bad. I was charged multiple times for this month and when i raised a ticket, i just got an automated reply with no response just some advertisement junks in them. When i rewrote to them they sent an email to me mentioning that i was threating them and that i am fraud. How the hell can they expect a customer to be a fraud, do they think i am cheating????? They only expect to take money from us without giving proper service….they do not expect to be questioned….when questioned they treat it as threats to them. Silly people…………….

Hmm… I have been reading this review for quite sometime and wondering why you guys are not able to stop the payment. Its simple folks. Just update your CC number with some junk number and the next time when STREAMBOX.TV tries to charge your card, it won’t work because you have given an incorrect card number. Try that out.
Now coming to other providers for south indian channels,
I tried isaitamil.net, and its not worth it even if its free. Their streaming rate is very low and so is the quality. I watched streambox.tv and its true that they dont provide customer support, but I did not face any streaming issue and their streaming is pretty good quality when compared to isaitamil.net. streambox.tv folks, if you are listening, I would say you guys are doing good job, but when you charge, do provide customer support.
I didnt have any complaints for the last 4 months till now. Since the last 2 weeks nothing has been coming and there is no customer response at all. They have even taken away the link to update the CC info now. I am going to call my credit card company tomorrow and block this.

My auto subscription expired, and I’ve not been able to renew my subscription…repeat emails haven’t elicited any response whatsoever. What kind of a business is this, that doesn’t want to take money from a customer that wanted to pay it! i’m giving up on them, will no longer recommend it to friends. And I do share the views that their servers have been down very many times recently. And here’s the creepy part - my initial subscription had 3 other channels besides cricket, and it suddenly vanished without notice!!

Folks.. Same problem too. I tried to contact CSC and no response till now. I am going to call my CC company and advice them to block payments. Nothing is working except the url http://www.streambox.tv/channel.
Used this for the past 1 year and it was good until last week. Now it goes to a different website. Better call the Credit card company and change your card number to protect yourself. That’s exactly what I did. I am not willing to take risk with this company

i signed up with another site last week. they are showing 10 malayalam channels. called windowstreams.com they have good streaming but the sad part is it always 1 or 2 channels down..! but for 14.99 i got 8 working channels (malayalam)

Yes Streambox is closed now. but i signed up with WindowStreams.com. WindowStreams is a Nice Source with 10 channels in malayalam. Nice Support people and good Streaming too
Yah Windowstream.com is a good Source for malayalm TV channels. they had 10 malyalam channels in thier Showcase. All of them are streaming good so far.
I am a windowstreams member for last 4 months. In that period there was some up and downs. But the Good thing is their tech support. they are so friendly , technically skilled and respond with in minitues. i will say their channels have 99% uptime.
i will say windowstreams.com is a good Source, if you considering malayalam channels.

Hi I subscribed to streambox tv for many channels, paying more than 40$, but since a long time it stopped working and now every time I try to contact them to unsubscribe, it says website no longer available. I hope they are not charging the monthly charges. What a poor service with no clue to customers when they shut down! If anyone knows how to contact them please help

watcsuntv is scam website do not sign upthere. i singed up there once it didnt work and they took my money. i asked them for refund cauz in there website they said that “yu got 24 hours to canel and refund yur money after yu signed up” buy they never reply back they never gave my money back and aslo in there site there is no contact info either it hapeend to my friend tooo so plz dont go into this scam website!!!!!
i have the same experience with watchsuntv.com i was asking for thier support 5 times within 15 hrs after my signup. They didnt reply any single emails. so i decided to cancel my account and emailed them about my refund request within 24 hrs. But they replied back this time after 48 hrs and told me that “i am not eligible to get the refund just because it was already 48 hrs gone.” I replied them back to point out that i cancelled the subscription from my paypal within 24 hrs,and i requested for a refund within 24 hrs of my signup. 10 days now and no reply from watchsuntv.com. So i filed a dispute and waiting for a result. Friends, looks like they are cheeters. Stay away from them. I found out today from my friend that watch sun tv team cloned a website layout from another provider site. (windowstreams.com) So looks like watch sun tv is cheeting from top to bottom. It is a total rip off website. @#$%##@!
Do you guys have any idea where i can watch suntv and vijay tv. I checked bestofmalayalam.com and windowstreams.com. But those guys only provides mallu channels. All the tips are welcome.
